Somatic Therapy and
Nervous System Regulation
Our nervous system is constantly taking in information and responding to our environment, relationships, and experiences—often before we are consciously aware of it. There are layers to our experience that exist outside of awareness and consciousness, including the implicit patterns that shape how we respond, relate, and protect ourselves.
Working with patterns that began outside of conscious awareness isn't always easy. But it is possible. Somatic therapy helps bring attention to these deeper layers of experience, creating opportunities to notice, understand, and gradually change patterns that may not respond to insight alone.
Jessica Stuart, MS, LCPC, SEP
I work diligently to help clients find the change and connections they seek through a somatic lens. Increasing the felt sense of safety, connection, and emotional regulation can be a real game changer for people. Another important piece is working to renegotiate imprints of overwhelming past experiences and traumas in the here and now.
Since 2010, I have worked with a variety of clients - individuals, couples, and families – dealing with significant struggles such as complex PTSD, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and chronic illnesses. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), I understand how traumatic experiences left unresolved are often at the root of suffering and distress. I am also trained in Natural Processing (Somatic EMDR), Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) details of each modality follows below. Most of these approaches include expressive arts and mindfulness-based approaches .

My approach to counseling is collaborative, creative, and grounded in connection. Sometimes words simply aren’t enough on their own - and that’s okay. Through embodiment, expression, and tools for deeper awareness, people of all ages can recognize past patterns and new opportunities for change. Drawing from a foundation in client-centered and attachment theory, I incorporate somatic and creative exploration to examine how relationships and experiences shape our regulation strategies, our sense of self, and our ability to live authentically.
Many of my clients come in feeling stuck and unsure where to begin but want to understand themselves, build stronger connections, and feel better. Fostering trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship is a cornerstone of my practice, and I aim to provide a supportive space where you feel seen, heard, and encouraged to move toward lasting change. I believe you are the expert of your lived experience, but you do not have to walk the road of self-discovery alone.
If you are interested in connecting, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to explore whether we may be a good fit. Wherever you land, I wish you well in your journey.
